All first-year and sophomore students living in TCU housing must have a meal plan.
Housing & Residence Life offers designated move-in days. Move-in dates are determined by the TCU group/activity in which students participate (e.g., Frog Camp, Sorority Recruitment, ROTC, etc.). Move-in times are determined by the floor and room number to which students are assigned.
Please confirm move-in dates and times BEFORE making travel arrangements. Early arrivals are not permitted. Students must move in on a designated Move-In day.
Parents & Families: We suggest booking return flights for the day after move-in to allow enough time for you to get your student settled. It will be a busy day, and we want you to enjoy the experience rather than be rushed.
Information about specific move-in dates, times, and locations can be found on our Move-In page.
Moving on campus is an exciting time, but it can be challenging as you prepare. We have created a comprehensive list of suggested items to bring, what Housing & Residence Life provides, and what you should leave behind. Learn more about what to bring to your new home.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
- Coordinate with your roommate(s) on which items you will bring. Some students even like to coordinate room decorations!
- Our Residence Halls page provides room descriptions, approximate dimensions, photos, and virtual tours. We are unable to provide exact measurements of your room or furniture. Please plan to take measurements of our tour rooms while on campus.
- Students can ship items to campus as soon as they secure a TCU Post Office Box. Many students ship items to campus prior to moving in to minimize the number of items they bring with them on Move-In day. Some students choose to purchase items after they move in. Do what is best for you and your family!
- Don’t overbuy! Less is always more. You can always purchase items after you move in.
- We also suggest getting renters’ insurance for your room.
