Hall Directors live in a fully furnished two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment located within the residence hall they oversee. Each apartment is provided and furnished by TCU, offering a comfortable and convenient on-campus living experience. While every space includes the same key features, each apartment has its own unique floor plan and layout. This place we call home has several taglines but one name, Fort Worth. Whether we are referenced as The Modern West or The Unexpected City, there is something truly special and unique about this place. In describing it, I often say that whether you come from a big city like me, Chicago, or a small town like some of my colleagues, you will love this city. It has the remarkable ability to feel like a small town, even though over a million people call it home.

Being the 11th-largest city in America means we are larger than many nationally recognized cities, including Boston and Seattle, and twice as big as Miami. As one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, Fort Worth maintains an unmatched balance of progress and personality. For me, this is the first time I have ever lived in a growing city. In fact, there are neighborhoods I visit today that didn’t exist when I first began working here. There’s always a new place to explore, blending seamlessly with the established venues that have stood the test of time.

Each neighborhood offers its own distinctive feel, ensuring you’ll find the exact vibe you’re looking for. The historic Stockyards features the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive, and Billy Bob’s Texas, the world’s largest honky-tonk, keeps cowboy culture alive. Downtown brings a mix of shopping, dining, live music, and theater found in major cities, while Clearfork provides access to high-end retail and dining experiences. Whether you want to relax over dinner and drinks in the laid-back atmosphere of Magnolia or dive into the vibrant nightlife of West 7th, there’s a vibe here for you.

Fort Worth is nothing short of recognitions and awards, further cementing its reputation as a destination that seamlessly blends Texas hospitality with remarkable districts full of cultural experiences. Known as the Museum Capital of the Southwest, the city boasts five world-class museums located within its celebrated Cultural District, some of which are always free to the public. The city’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the arts. The Fort Worth Zoo was ranked the #1 zoo in the United States by USA Today in 2020 and consistently places among the top ten. Nature lovers will find beauty in abundance at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, which Southern Living recognized in 2024 as one of the South’s most beautiful gardens.

Culinary excellence thrives here as well. In 2024, MICHELIN honored three Fort Worth restaurants—Panther City BBQ, Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez, and Goldee’s BBQ—highlighting the city’s vibrant and evolving food scene. Adding to its appeal, Fort Worth is about 25 minutes from DFW International Airport, offering the convenience of flying to nearly any city in the continental United States in four hours or less.

With all this and countless other qualities that make Fort Worth special, I believe it is a remarkable place for anyone to build or continue their career. After more than a decade of living here, I’ve come to appreciate how its energy, growth, and sense of community make it a truly exceptional place to live and work.
