Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Timeline for Housing and Residence Life

2007
- The Housing and Residence Life Inclusiveness Committee was formed.
2009
- The first Tunnel of Oppression was held and implemented by our department for all of campus to partake in.
2015
- Tunnel of Oppression had over 1,000 participants.
2016
- Human Library started.
- Single-person bathroom spaces were identified in Waits and Foster to de-sex/gender single bathroom/shower rooms.
- Launched Inclusiveness Newsletter.
- Inclusiveness began investigating disaggregated data regarding marginalized communities in the residence halls.
2017
- The Cultural Connector program launched its pilot program in six of our residence halls.
- The Graduate Assistant for Multicultural Enrichment was created to support Cultural Connectors and acted as a split position with Fraternity and Sorority Life.
- Launched Inclusiveness Bulletin Board Competitions.
- Launched Diversity Rubric for Skyfactor.
- Launched RA Training Diversity Day.
2018
- All residential communities received a Cultural Connector.

2021
- The HRL Inclusiveness Committee expanded its work to include:
- Table Talk sessions, monthly dialogue sessions for Resident Assistants surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.
- Implement Hall Director trainings in partnership with our Hall Director Training Committee and their First Friday programming.
- Heritage and History Month programming for all residential students.
